Swimming pool architects in Oxfordshire

Horsley & Townsend is an established RIBA architecture practice providing high quality swimming pool design services for clients in Oxfordshire and surrounding areas. Our expertise covers a wide range of swimming pool designs, including basement pools, wellness facilities and pool extension buildings. We take great pride in working closely with our clients in order to turn their ideas into reality, creating beautiful pools of superb quality and exceptional design.

Do I need an architect to design a swimming pool?

The answer to this question is very simple: yes, working with an architect is an essential part of any pool design and installation project. Once we have talked through your ideas and aspirations for the project, we’ll start work on the detailed drawings and structural analysis required as these areas of expertise don’t sit within the remit of most swimming pool installation contractors.

It’s important to bear in mind that without detailed plans for your project, obtaining accurate costings from pool installation contractors will be very difficult, if not impossible. Furthermore, plans also need to be created to ensure the project meets any necessary planning regulations.

Our swimming pool design services provide the starting point for a high quality outcome and we’ll work with you throughout the process by providing our expertise at every stage. We’ll begin with consultation during which we’ll discuss your ideas and aspirations; looking in-depth at the options available to you.

The most suitable type of indoor swimming pool for your home will, of course, depend on the size and location of your property, and the amount of outdoor space available. Basement pools are the perfect solution in situations where sufficient outdoor space is limited, whilst detached pool buildings are ideal for properties with large gardens. In addition, in some cases it’s possible to consider re-purposing an existing building such as a stable block or barn.

Once we have finalised a design we’ll begin work on obtaining necessary planning permission. The majority of indoor pools require planning permission and we’ll supply the drawings required to ensure this process is as straightforward as possible. Our wide-ranging expertise covers projects in what might be perceived as challenging locations, including Areas of Outstanding Beauty and National Parks.

We’ll also use the plans we create to tender for quotes from reputable, experienced pool contractors. Finally, once the construction phase of your project is underway, we’ll continue to provide professional support through regular on-site visits and inspections.
