Architectural Services in York

Who we are

We established Horsley Townsend Architects in 2001 with the aim of providing bespoke architectural services, tailor-made to suit the needs of individual clients.  We specialise in bringing a fresh perspective to every project and have a wide range of experience across all sectors. Our work ranges from new builds and simple house extensions, through to the design of commercial, industrial and retail buildings.

Our expertise also includes projects that have required the renovation or restoration of Grade I and Grade II listed buildings.  We have worked on a variety of commissions located in sensitive areas including Conservation Areas, Green Belt land and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Our work on listed buildings and in Conservation Areas, has given us the experience to understand that working in a historic city such as York calls for designs which are sympathetic to the environment and will breathe new life into historic properties.  Why not contact us for further information on the range of architectural services we offer to clients in York and surrounding areas?

How we work

We begin every project my meeting with you at your property to talk through ideas and to find out more about you and how you live or work.  There’s no charge for this initial consultation and after our first meeting, we’ll send you a quotation outlining our costs for taking your project further.

As a RIBA chartered architect practice we offer our clients the flexibility to appoint us to carry out just one or all of the various stages of a project – from the initial submission of a valid planning application, through to the preparation of construction drawings and our assistance during the construction phase.

Recent projects

In 2012 we worked on two large commercial projects which called for the sympathetic extension and restoration of Grade I and Grade II listed buildings. Our commissions are mainly in Yorkshire; however we have also worked on projects in London, the South of England, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Whatever your project and wherever it is, we believe in offering an architectural service which is designed to meet the individual needs of our clients.  Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or to arrange a meeting; we’d be delighted to talk through ideas with you and offer our assistance where possible.
